Are you ready to take home that puppy?
Before you buy a puppy (or go to a shelter and take one of those dogs home, which is a better way to do it) then you need to make sure you have everything ready for them when you get them back, because you are going to have your hands full as soon as they get back with you! The puppy or dog is probably going to be pretty nervous and anxious at going in your car for the first time, so you need either a carry cage for them or some sort of barrier to keep them away from the driver, otherwise they could cause an accident. Then you need the basics for them to eat and drink with, so a bowl for food, the actual food, and a bowl for water, plus some treats.
They also need a bed so they have somewhere comfortable to sleep which isn’t your couch, as long as it is big enough for them then they will fall in love with it no matter what you get. Some toys would be good to keep them occupied, and things like a dog brush for grooming and something to clean their teeth with. You’ll need a lead too so you can take them out for walks, preferably one of those ones that allows you to lengthen and shorten it as you want.
Finally a book on caring for a dog might be a good idea, just so you have something to refer to if you are wondering what to do about injections or how to potty train them etc, this is particularly important if you are bringing home an adorable but untrained puppy!
