Buying Home Theatre Systems

November 14th, 2010

If you love home entertainment ,5.1 surround sound and multimedia: movies, HD TV, video games, music and more, there’s plenty of technology on the market to enhance your experience for the first time. Upgrading your entertainment space can make your home the popular hangout for family movie night and game day, or turn your space into your own private concert hall. You may well be considering upgrading your monitor and switching from DVD to Blu-Ray, but besides your visual entertainment experience, have you also considered surround sound? Crisp picture and brilliant color can have a powerful effect, but that “really-there” feeling is only achieved when your ears are engaged along with your eyes.

Incorporating surround sound perfectly into a home theatre isn’t as invasive or complicated you may think. A minimum of five speakers are essential to create a simple yet effective home theater audio set up: one for your center channel, and two left speakers and two right speakers, which complete a front and rear sound. While you will need some space to incorporate or mount speakers in specified locations, surround sound speakers have become more streamline, compact and stylish. Many have mounting and stand alone options. These improves make surround sound a possibility for almost any living space. All individual speakers will need to be wired through a receiver, which processes sound from the audio source or player, lake a base stereo unit. Audio suppliers will often supply surround sound speakers and receivers as a complete set. These often include all necessary cabling, so essentially everything you need to get set up is in a single package.

Always ensure the cable you’re using is rated for use in walls. If you can’t afford to modify your interior for the sake of surround sound and you don’t want to spend the extra money to go wireless, consider using flat cabling. Flat cabling can be run flush against a wall, and is less obtrusive to run under an area rug, along a baseboard, or in between furniture. Surround sound is now more affordable and accessible than it’s ever been. There’s no need to be intimidated by equipment or technical set up. If you love getting lost in a good film, enjoy listening to music like it’s being performed right in front of you, and you want the most realistic gaming experience, then don’t exclude surround sound from your home entertainment setup.
