Credit Repair Business - Search Carefully

January 3rd, 2010

There is too much argument in regard to the credit repair business to discount it. In fact, the reason that so many of those who need credit help fails to seek it, is the bad name associated with the credit repair industry.

However, it’s not true that all those who work in this line are fraudulent. There are lots of reputable companies out there ready to intervene on your behalf to do everything legally possible to improve your credit. But that leaves one with the problem of how to identify the reputable companies how to go about staying away from companies that are fraudulent.

Contrary to the common wisdom, recognizing a deceitful repair agency isn’t so complicated. A common “red flag” is when such an agency purports to repair your credit very quickly

Because your credit history was formed over the span of many years, it’s next to impossible to improve your credit score in a very short time. The moment any credit repair business promises what you know is not possible, you should “dump” them, as they are definitely not a trustworthy company!

There are other simple telltale signs that will point out a fraudulent company in no time. The deceitful “professionals”, in most every case, will require full payment upfront.

A credit repair organization, under federal law, may not charge their entire fees up front. No matter how bad your credit report is, do not pay in advance of any services being rendered.

A dishonest credit repair business will not think twice about recommending illegal means to improve bad credit. They will even counsel you to use illegal methods and try to convince you that it’s perfectly OK, since they have somebody on the “inside” in the credit bureaus will cover up on their (and your) behalf.

Don’t ever fall prey to such false promises! Make sure you never encourage or accept any type of intervention to improve you credit score unless it’s 100 percent legal. Irregardless of how bad your problems are, they will become much worse if you’re caught trying to amend the situation illegally.

You are the person primarily responsible for any illegal activity to improve your credit; therefore, you can be prosecuted if caught in illegal activity. In the end, it’s just not worth the trouble!

An additional way to determine if the credit repair business you’re looking at is “for real”, is to request they teach you about matters regarding credit repair. A legal agency will be more than happy to afford you advice and guidance in your quest to become more knowledgeable in regard to repairing credit.

A trustworthy business will work as a facilitator, while an untrustworthy business will be resentful and wary about sharing information related to fixing your credit.
