A Thyroid test includes TSH, T4, and T3 in the human body. Circulating in the blood, T4 and T3 are bound and link to protein molecules. The unbound T3 and T4 represents the bodys thyroid levels. Thyroid levels of free hormone act as the hormone present to react with receptors of cells in the body.
Thyroid levels are low in hypothroidism. A lot of TSH is excreted by the pituitary thus increasing the TSH thyroid levels. T4 is primarily produced in the gland of the thyroid with only small amounts of T3. The peripheral tissue of the liver manufactures T3 by the conversion of T4 to T3.
