The Cultural Acceptance of Music
Music has become very much a cultural necessity in many parts of the world, made more available with the advent of iPods and other mp3 players.
Now, I am probably the person who would be farthest from judging these new worlds of music being created by the introduction of iPod’s, and mobile phones that are able to play music, and mp3 player. I am a music lover by nature, and I can definitely say that music has affected my life in more ways than one. I find the world of music to be mesmerizing and therapeutic whether it’s from listening to the lyrics of the song or the melody line.
New websites such as MySpace and YouTube have allowed new and upcoming, unsigned artists to get their music heard. They can get a fan-base before even releasing an album into the public. They can also mess around trying to find their ‘sound’ and what will give them the largest possible chance of becoming famous. I particularly enjoy seeking out those independent artists, because they offer such a change from mainstream pop, or hip-hop, or what have you that is being played and marketed on the radios . It cannot be denied that there are many talented asrtists out there just needing the right producer to get them to where they need to be.
TV shows, such as X Factor and other talent shows, have really capitalized on this idea of allowing ordinary people a chance. It is not an easy feat to break into the music business on your own. It takes huge amounts of dedication, and immensely which would make most people give up. Just getting your music heard by a record producer is no mean feat. But, being shut down by producer after producer because you don’t have the mainstream sound would just be completely disheartening to most.
Now don’t take this the wrong way; I’m not saying that the big stars of today are less than special. Many of them have worked hard getting to where they are now, and many deserve the attention and respect they get for their music. Being a music fan I have hundreds of albums from those artists, and listen to their words and messages intently.
