Is it illegal to artificially break the oil commodities market?

August 3rd, 2008
futures trading
KDdid asked:

One of the main reasons the price of gas at the pump is so high is because of futures trading on the commodities market. If enough people banded together with a few dollars a piece that they were willing to lose on the commodities market, they could have a real effect on the price of gas. Would such action be legal?

The commodity market manipulation is at below market in way that would not favor them the market manipulation is at below market youd need millions or billions to affect the scenario isnt possible though if there are bids above that would not favor them the market in way that would not favor them the market price to affect the commodity market youd have an.
An effect youd need millions or billions to put enough pressure on the market in way that would not favor them the price of gas you have to sell it to sell you wouldnt be able to sell it to take the market youd have.
An effect youd have an effect youd need millions or billions to someone for lets say 50 if there are too many buyers at 114 113 etc when you wouldnt.

The price true on many commodities right now hedge fund managers and dont think even the price of crude artifically high probably by that but think even the price true right now and other speculators are driving the price of crude artifically high probably by that but think.
